Can you give me a little bit about you and your background? What prompted you to get into the real estate industry?
I started off in law enforcement and worked in that field for about 15 years. I worked for the Sheriff’s Office in Fort Collins, over in Larimer County, as a deputy. During that time, I was always interested in looking at houses and watching the whole housing market.
When I retired from law enforcement, I thought that it was a great opportunity to get into doing something that I totally loved doing – so I jumped into real estate, and I’ve been doing that for about five years now.
What drives you to be the best at what you do in real estate?
I like to make people happy. Listening is what does it – that gets them to that point. That’s what I try to focus on. I’m all about keeping my mouth shut, listening, and letting clients talk. That way, everyone can get an idea of what exactly they need and make my business work for that.
What does being a realtor mean to you and your clients?
It means I am in it 100% to get them successfully through whatever transaction they have – whether it’s on the buy-side or the sell-side. It also means they have their full trust in me, that I’m going to help them through the process and have their best interest in mind at all times.
It’s important to have someone on their side that knows the ins and outs of the real estate market. I may not know everything – but I certainly have people that I can connect with so that if some situation comes up, I can always get help to get them exactly what they need. It’s a big investment that clients are making here – we don’t want to have anything fall to the wayside due to lack of knowledge.
What do you want prospective clients to know about you?
I want them to know that I’m pretty laid-back. I’m full power on when I need to be to get the show going in the right direction, but otherwise, I’m pretty easygoing and ready to please.
What’s your best memory/client success story within the real estate industry?
One of the standout memories I have was actually from a sad situation to start off with when a family was going through a divorce. They were still going to continue on as friends and I was there to get them through the process of moving. The transaction consisted of selling their forever home and then finding each of them a home that kept the kids and the parents connected yet separate. For being a very stressful situation, it ended up being a very good situation for everybody involved.
I love all the seasons. I think they’re absolutely wonderful. You just never know what you’re going to get – rain, snow, sun. I think that’s the best thing about being in Colorado.
What’s one fun thing about you?
I’m an avid bicyclist. There are wonderful trails all over Colorado, whether you’re in the mountains, by a lake or going by a cornfield area you can always find a trail. It’s a great place to do any type of bicycle touring.
