Can you tell me a little bit about you and your background? What prompted you to get into the real estate industry?
My real passion for real estate started when I was about 5, driving around showing homes with my mom. She was a licensed real estate agent in upstate New York in the eighties and nineties. I grew up in a very small village, population 2421! So driving around to other towns and villages, seeing different homes, was always an adventure and fun. In 2001 we moved to Colorado and my mom got her license here at the height of the foreclosure crisis. In high school I started helping my mom out — prepping foreclosures, hosting open houses, showing properties, landscaping, things like that. My brother did most of the landscaping, I would do most of the house cleaning, but we’d always help each other. Very much a family job.
I got my degree at Denver Metropolitan State University for early childhood education, so when I was offered my dream job as a nanny for a family here in Denver in 2007, I had to take it! Little did I know that I would spend over 11 years with that family and help raise their three children. In 2015, when their youngest was born, I decided to get my real estate license and begin my journey back into the real estate industry.
What drives you to be the best at what you do in real estate?
My passion is to make my clients’ dreams come true. I want to make sure that my buyers get exactly the home that they want, and I won’t stop until they do. This is the biggest investment of their lives and a place they are going to call home. For me, it’s my personal mission to make sure they are not settling!
Home ownership is one of the best ways to build wealth and your home will become your biggest asset. Selling your home can sometimes be harder than it was purchasing it. Whether it was your first home, favorite home or even an investment home, selling it can be emotional. I’m here for you through it all.
What does being a realtor mean to you and your clients?
Being a realtor means holding myself to the highest standards. It means giving 100% customer service 100% of the time. I am constantly reaching out to my clients, updating them on their contracts. I’m making sure that even if there is no update to give them, they are okay mentally and emotionally.
It means staying on top of the market every day — in these crazy times, it means I stay on top of the market every hour. It’s preparing to give my clients the best advice possible and preparing them for what could happen in every situation. Every client and every situation is so different that I just want to be able to take the time to come up with an individual plan for each one of them.
In today’s market, why is it important for a buyer or a home seller to use a realtor to buy or sell a home?
The market is constantly changing. Both buyers and sellers need an agent who is actively engaged with all the market updates and knows all the new procedures and current laws. I am a resource to help them with the biggest investment in their lives — it’s essential for their financial safety, too. Not using a realtor can cost you thousands more in the long run and be more stressful. With so many moving parts throughout the transaction, it is best to leave the negotiating, contracts and hard work to me. Not only am I a certified negotiations expert but I also have weekly team meetings with my company and top coaches so I can provide the best advice for all of my clients.
What do you want prospective clients to know about you?
I want them to know that I am in real estate for them, to get them the best possible outcome for their situation and give them the best professional real estate services. I want prospective clients to know that I will be with them every step of the way — from going over our process and what to expect to negotiating on their behalf and getting to the closing table as smoothly as possible. Also, after closing, I will be there for them, making sure their move went smoothly and that their new home is better than they expected. Often my clients become my friends. I have them over for dinner and game nights and even help their family and friends with their real estate needs too. I want clients to know that I will always be there for them.
What’s your best memory/client success story within the real estate industry?
One of my favorite memories was when I helped a young 22-year-old buy her first home. I had met her older sister at an open house and sold her sister’s home, her sister’s boyfriend’s home and helped them purchase a new build together a few years prior. During her sister’s transactions I had met her 20 year old sister a few times and had stayed in contact with her for a few years while she was building her savings and credit. Once she was ready, I helped connect her to a great lender who walked her through the entire lending side of the transaction and got her approved. The process itself was just like many of my other transactions but over the course of time we became good friends and was even in one of my best friend’s weddings together! Recently, she celebrated her first anniversary of becoming a homeowner.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Colorado?
So many things, it’s hard to choose just one. I guess if I had to pick it would be that it’s perfect for a very adventurous person like me. I love to go on hikes, ski, camp, and I love to go exploring. This is the perfect state for it all.
What’s one fun thing about you?
I absolutely love my babies! I have a 1 year old baby girl named Marcella and a golden retriever puppy named Opal Emerald, (Opie for short). I spend all of my free time playing with them and am loving watching them learn to play with each other. Opie is so good with Marcella pulling and tugging on her fur. She just sits there and licks Cella’s feet and face and makes the best vacuum for all of the babies messes! Lately Opie has started taking her toys to Marcella and nudging them on her cheek and hands like “Play with me”, it really is the cutest thing ever. These moments are so very precious and I am trying hard to enjoy all that I can.
