The mayor and council members serve for a 4-year term, with elections being held on the first Tuesday in November in odd number years. The city council may call for special elections as deemed necessary.

There are many friendly people in Arvada. The majority of the population is between the ages of 25-64. Children under 18 make up 23% of the population. The elderly only make up 13% of the population.

Many of the residents travel to Denver or to Boulder for employment.

There is a nice mix of housing in Arvada. There are 42,000 high-density housing apartments, but there are also many single family homes. The median range prices for homes is in the los $200,000.
