About half way between the cities of Denver and Boulder, you can find the small but growing town of Broomfield, CO. Incorporated as a town in 1961, this town of 58,000 people is named for the broomcorn that used to grow abundantly in this area. Many of those fields are gone, but in their place are a lot of houses just asking for new occupants.
What’s life like in Broomfield?
There are houses for everyone’s preferences and budgets. Everything from small 1 or 2-bed condos costing $150,000 to enormous properties with acres of land that cost nearly $3,000,000. Although this is a burgeoning city, it’s also got a quaint, small-town feel, and is also one of the safest cities in Colorado.
Broomfield has multiple school districts due to its previous history of straddling four counties, but whether you choose the Boulder Valley School District, the Adams 12 Five Star Schools, the Jefferson County School District, or one of the other three districts, you’ll be making the right choice for your kids.
Higher learning options are also plentiful in the nearby areas, including the University of Colorado in nearby Boulder.
Tech companies are the largest employers with companies such as Webroot and Level 3 Communications keeping their headquarters here. Mrs. Fields cookies and Vail Resorts are also based in Broomfield.
There are also plenty of fantastic parks here, from Broomfield County Commons Park and its 80-acre sports complex to East Interlocken Park with it’s beautiful cottonwood trees.
Is there anything to do around Broomfield?
There’s quite a lot for people to do in this area. The 1stBank center is a popular concert venue that hosts many great shows throughout the year. If you like the active lifestyle, the Paul Derda Recreation Center offers a rock climbing wall, an indoor aquatic park, and even a large game room for families to enjoy.
Nearby Denver also offers plenty of action. Elitch Gardens amusement park offers plenty of fun rides and attractions for the whole family, and you’ll also want to spend the day at the Denver Zoo in City Park, which has hundreds of animal species from across the globe.
If you prefer art and culture, the Denver Art Museum and the nearby Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art showcase both local artists, and works from the old masters.
Boulder also offers a lot of fun things for people to enjoy, such as the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History. This museum gives visitors a chance to see Colorado as it was millions of years ago when the dinosaurs still reigned supreme over this region, and they even offer a glimpse into the birth of the Rockies.
