Capitol Hill Real Estate
Capitol Hill is an eclectic neighborhood just north of Downtown Denver. It’s named after the Colorado State Capitol, which sits atop a hill on one of the neighborhood’s borders.
The neighborhood is square shaped, outlined by four streets: Colfax, Broadway, and Downing and Sixth Avenue. A mix of older mansions, apartments and condominiums make up most of the housing options.
Capitol Hill is one of the most diverse, cosmopolitan neighborhoods in Denver. It has long been known as an artistic, bohemian enclave; it was home to such luminaries in the past as Alan Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.
Poet’s Row is a block of historic apartment complexes all named after classical writers such as Emily Dickenson and Robert Frost. It is considered to be a neighborhood that embraces tolerance towards differing lifestyles, and is home to both Denver’s Gay Pride Parade and the largest Cinco de Mayo festival in the country.
Within the bounds of this neighborhood are close to 150 restaurants covering any option you may be searching for from fast food, to trendy raw vegan, to fine dining. There are several large music venues and a number of smaller bars that frequently have live bands.
Coffee shops and small, funky stores are scattered through the neighborhood. There is a thriving nightlife, with a very diverse range of bars and theaters.
Capitol Hill is also home to several notable museums and spacious parks. The Molly Brown House, of “Unsinkable Molly Brown” fame, is a popular museum, as is the prestigious Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art.
The Historical Society of Colorado and the Denver Art Museum are also located here. Civic Center Park and Cheesman Park provide large green spaces and the opportunity for some tranquility in the city.
